Brian OConner (Paul Walker) har mistet sit job, efter at han har ladet sin ven, Dom Toretto, en "streetracende" forbryderchef, flygte fra lovens lange arm. Nu er han tilbage i Miami med sin gamle ven, Roman Pearce (Tyrese). Brian arbejder under dække for politiet for at undgå at blive straffet for sine handlinger. Han hjælper den pragtfulde Monica Fuentes (Eva Mendes) med at finde en lyssky Miami forretningsmand. Og han kører "streetracing" igen - denne gang med livet som indsats?
